Exercise Safety

Message from the Editor

Sharon FoyWelcome to the Exercise Safety Association's revised website. This site is designed as a resource for professionals; it includes a general area that is open to everyone, and a log-in area reserved exclusively for ESA certified members.

Our goal is to provide an interactive experience in which you and ESA can communicate with each other quickly and efficiently. To achieve this goal, the site will develop in three stages. In stage one, ESA has posted general information and its first newsletter in the new online format. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the site. This is your certification organization. Read the information and become acquainted with opportunities for your professional growth. Apply for ESA opportunities that interest you. Become one of the STAR America Representatives or if you are qualified become an Advisory Board member. Tell us about yourself, your classes, your facility or your activity within your community, and ESA will consider your story for the Feature Member or Fit Bits column. You can also submit a popular DVD for a Video Safety Rating.

Stage two will allow ESA certified instructors to "log in" to areas designed exclusively for ESA fitness professionals. If you are a current ESA certified member, you have been issued a login user name and password. The member log-in will give you access to complete continuing education articles, video evaluations, and more. In addition, you will be able to complete CEC submission forms to earn credits. Stage two will continue for the first six months of 2012. ESA will continue adding articles and other information. Stage three is scheduled for 2013. Next year, you will be able to order programs and renew your certification directly on the website. However, if you choose, you will be able to order and renew by phone or mail.

The first two stages will allow ESA members sufficient time to adjust to using the web site. Explore the site often and become familiar with it. During the second stage of development, read Continuing Education Articles and earn Continuing Education Credits for your Certification Renewal. By the second half of 2012, the frequency of newsletters, articles, and information posted will increase.

Remember, you can contact us to ask questions or for assistance in negotiating the website. You will receive the same friendly service that you always have received.

We look forward to serving you in a better way. Remember this change will give you twenty-four hour access to ESA, and you will still be able to call and talk to an ESA representative during business hours, Monday - Saturday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST.

If you have comments regarding ESA's new website, please call and ask for me (407-246-5090), and I will be happy to discuss ESA's new direction with you.
